Rows for the Hungry just planted some leeks and onions this week. Leeks can often be passed over as a difficult vegetable to clean and cook but with the right recipe, they are an excellent addition.

Jeanine from the blog Love and Lemons has a good tutorial on cleaning and prepping leeks.

Olive Magazine has 34 leek recipes - there will definitely be something you will want to try cooking. Our favorites are The Curried Leek and Potato Hash, Chicken and Leek Pie, and the Sausage and Butterbean Casserole.

Want to try growing them this year? They are a hardly vegetable to grow in New Jersey. Check out this webpage for details on growing leeks.
